WordPress MU 2.7 launched
Last week Donncha O Caoimh, the Irish WordPress developer, announced the release of WordPress MU version 2.7.
WordPress MU is a multi-user version of WordPress, designed to run many blogs at once; one installation runs hundreds of thousands of blogs with tens of millions of hits every day. WordPress MU is ideal for:
- Blog networks;
- Niche-specific blog hosts;
- Newspapers and magazines; and
- Universities.
Donncha says that this new release mainly updates WordPress MU to take account of the new code included in WordPress 2.7, but it also contains quite a few bug fixes.
I am planning to use it for a major website update that I have been asked to do. I will let you know how I get on.
Donncha is also the author of ‘WP Super Cache’, a static caching plugin for WordPress. You will probably need some sort of caching once you start to get a lot of traffic to your blog. I plan to try it out on this blog soon; I will, of course, let you know how well it works.
