Twitter scheme failure

Oh dear! Just one week after posting my Twitter scheme, I have to report that my first Twitter account has been banned for suspicious behavior.

To be successful the scheme needed to have as many Twitter followers as possible. I did read the Twitter rules and followed the “words” if not the “spirit” of them. Where I went wrong was by being far too impatient. I automated the procedure for gaining followers and used some quite aggressive settings – clearly they upset Twitter.

I have taken some advice from fellow Internet Marketers and they assure me that you can get good traffic from Twitter but that it takes some time. I have not yet set up a new scheme but will do so in due course – my one month target looks a little lame now. Never mind I have learnt a lesson from it.

Twitter is not the only popular website that is getting tougher with what it perceives to be abuse. I have heard reports of Squidoo just deleting lens that it does not like without any warning. So if you spend time producing material that you post on third party websites make sure that you have a copy of it in case it is deleted. At least you can then use it elsewhere.
