WordPress 2.8.5 released
The WordPress team have been working hard on version 2.9. Their work has identified a number of further security issues that they decided to back-port to the 2.8 branch so that existing WordPress sites are as secure as possible. The WordPress team recommend that all sites be upgraded to the latest version, WordPress 2.8.5, as soon as possible.
