Don’t put all your eggs in one basket

We all know the expression “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” and it’s quite clear what it means in general. But what does it mean in internet marketing?

Quite a few internet marketers generate quite a significant income from Google AdSense. Personally, I rather like Google AdSense and do receive an income from it myself. However, one of the heavily “sold” internet marketing systems involves setting up a very large number of one or two page websites that contain Google ads. Not surprisingly, this involves quite a bit of work and it’s rather doubtful whether such practice complies with Google’s rules. Indeed, some people have, apparently, had their Google AdSense accounts closed for this practice.

If, for example, you used such a system and all of your internet marketing income came from this one source, you would have a serious problem if the income ceased suddenly. On the other hand if you had, say five, independent sources of income a problem with one of them while annoying would not be catastrophic.

So diversify your sources of income and comply with the “rules” and you will be fine.
