Most iPhone apps are either free or sell for a small amount of money. However, if you can come up with a very popular app that sells hundreds of thousands of copies you are on to a winner. Apple provide a develoment kit for iPhone apps if you want to write one yourself or you could come up with an idea and get someone to write it for you. Apple charge $99 a year for the ability to develop and sell iPhone apps in the Apple online store so you could make a serious amount of money.
All you need to do is come up with a really great idea!
