Saga Ruby visits Mount’s Bay

Yesterday evening (Monday 24 May 2010) the cruise ship Saga Ruby passed through Mount’s Bay quite close to St. Michael’s Mount.

The Saga Ruby is a classic looking cruise ship owned and operated by Saga Cruises. She was built by Swan Hunter Shipbuilders in 1973 as the Vistafjord for the Norwegian America Line (NAL). In 1983, following the acquisition of NAL by Trafalgar House, Cunard’s then owners, she became part of the Cunard fleet, retaining her original name until 1999 when she was renamed MS Caronia. In 2004 she was sold to Saga Cruises.

I believe that the Saga Ruby is the last cruise ship to have been built in the United Kingdom.
